International air travel up 6% in the Canary Islands

The eight airports in the Canary Islands registered an increase of 6% during the month of August (2013) with 2,867,231 passengers, of which 2,842,874 used commercial flights.

Tourists spend 7% more in the Canary Islands

Foreign tourists visiting the Canary Islands during the first seven months of the year (2013) spent €6,240 million which represents 7.7% more than the same period of 2012, according to the Tourism Expenditure Survey (Egatur) which was released today by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.

A total of 15.5 million passengers passed through Canarian airports in the first semester of 2013, which represents a 5.1% decrease when compared to figures from the same period last year (2012) according to figures published by AENA.

Slight decrease in Canary Islands unemployment

The total number of unemployed people in the Canary Islands fell last month (June 2013) when compared to May (2013) by 3,308 people which represents a decrease of 1.12% bringing the total number of unemployed in the Canaries to 293,054 people according to figures.
