As Sky TV in the UK constantly move UK TV channels to different transponders in an aim to concentrate the satellite beam exclusively to the UK, it has become harder and harder to get UK channels in the Canaries and Spain in general without spending lots of money on large satellite dishes.

The Canary Islands has seen an increase of 352 foreign workers in August 2013, an increase of 0.47% when compared to the previous month of July yet the figures for the whole year of 2013 so far show a decrease of 3.69% (2,877 people).

Canary Islands continue to register increases in tourism

The Canary Islands have received 6,724,603 foreign tourists from January to August this year (2013) which is 1.5% more than the same period last year (2012), according to a survey carried out by Frontur, on behalf of the Ministry of Industry.

Foreign tourists visiting the Canary Islands during the first seven months of the year (2013) spent €6,240 million which represents 7.7% more than the same period of 2012, according to the Tourism Expenditure Survey (Egatur) which was released today by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.
