Playa del InglesPlaya del Ingles is located at the 8 km long beach that runs between San Agustin and Maspalomas. On the westernmost part of the beach of Maspalomas, is the 65m high lighthouse Faro de Maspalomas, built in the late 1800’s. This golden beach with sand originated from the Sahara is combined with an attractive promenade and plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Playa del Ingles has been associated as a gay tourist destination, the main attraction is the Yumbo Centre, providing an array of shops, bars, night clubs and restaurants, whilst quiet during the day it becomes a hive of activity during the evening and popular with families too, there are plenty of arcardes and childrens activities on the ground floor.

The Cita Center shopping center is a short, 10 minute walk from the Yumbo Center and includes an array of shops, alough most do close for early to late afternoon, in accordance with the Spanish siesta.

Other activities and attractions include mini golf, bingo, tennis, golf, water parks, go-karts, scuba diving, camel and horse riding and an array of water sports, including windsurfing, jet-skiing, bannana rides and even a casino.

Every second week of May, the main attraction is the gay pride festival, with well over 100,000 attending you need to book very early if looking to attend around this time. The bars and restaurants get extremely busy.

Playa del Ingles has English, Irish, Scandinavian, Dutch and German bars in abundance and most, if not all, speak good English. The resort does tend to attract the young British crowd during the popular summer months (July and August), partly due to the active nightlife but also the fabulous beaches, easily within walking distance of the resort.

There is a wide choice of fine shops (and crap ones!) to choose from as well as many restaurants, many offering Chinese, Italian, local cuisine and good old English food, including Burger King, McDonalds and Subway!

Barbados ApartmentsThere are scores of hotel available within Playa del Ingles, although not many that cater for large familes (without booking two rooms), although Apartmento Barbados caters for five, with two bedrooms and a sofa-bed. As with most hotels, access to a swimming pool is included and you are not required to pay for the room until you turn up, just make sure you book in advance, you can book direct for decent savings and get 10% off your next trip if you apply for a servatur card.

Plays del Ingles is popular all-year-round with its excellent weather and is the second largest European resort of its kind, after Benidorm.
