Puerto Rico

Puerto RicoIn Puerto Rico there are two high-class beaches. The actual Puerto Rico beach that lies between two harbours, and the new artificial Amadores Beach. It has pure white sand and breakwaters in order to make the water as calml as possible. All along the beach there are shops and restaurants. The ports are easy to find boats ordering dolphin trips and other fun rides.

The western part of the beach turns into a port, busy with companies offering deep sea fishing, sailing, diving, windsurfing, jet-skiing, parascending trips and many other water sports.

The area bosts a rarity among southern resorts; a town park, planted with ficus trees and palms, behind the beach. Attractions include a heated swimming pool (not that a heated pool is needed in the region!), bowling alley, flood-lit tennis courts, mini golf courses, water park and many cheap shops and restaurants.

Puerto Rico grew up on the strength of its constant sunshine and is a popular destination for families with small children.

Whilst not as big as Aqualand, Ocean Park covers just 2500 square metres but contains everything you would expect from a professional water park with several pools, a huge wave pool and 24 water slides.

There are ample snack bars and restaurants on-site and of course a gift shop.

Boat Trips

Popular in the harbours of Puerto Rico (south of the island), you can choose from dolphin and whale watching, yellow submarine ride (to the bottom of the ocean – from Puerto de Morgan), catamaran trip, fishing, a glass-bottomed boat trip, parascending and a ferry trip. See the yellow submarine video here.

Atlantida Water Park

Atlantida is a water theme park located next to the commercial centre. As the name suggests it is based on the ancient Amazon River valley. It has previously been an aqua park but has been completely transformed and is now a major attraction on the island. It has loads of fun slides including the kamikaze and rapid river, plenty of sun beds, parasols, café, restaurant and shops. All in all, great fun for the whole family.
